If the current quarantine has you running out of craft ideas for you and your family, a little Easter egg decorating may be just what you need.

Easter is a little over one week away so if you don’t have certain materials on hand, you will want to order them online ASAP. Check with your local grocery or craft store first. If you can’t find it there, you can probably find it at your favorite major online retailer.

Decorating Easter eggs isn’t just for kids! So have fun, get creative and enjoy the time with your loved ones.

Paper Cut Outs

Add an extra layer to your dyed eggs or simply glue the paper cut outs to white eggs.

Using a handheld stencil cutter, cut out different shapes and colors of card paper or construction paper and glue them to the eggs.

No stencil cutter? Use a hole puncher to create small circle shapes for a confetti look.

Or cut out colorful designs from paper napkins, glue them on with mod podge (craft glue), and then seal the designs with another layer of mod podge.

Lace Wrapped Dyed Easter Eggs

Secure pieces of lace to your eggs with a rubber band before dying to create gorgeous lace eggs. To create an ombre’ effect, or various shades of the same color, allow different eggs to soak in one dye for increasingly longer amounts of time.

Kool-Aid Colors

Whether you are looking for something simple or need to create a colored base for another layer of design, Kool-Aid is an easy alternative to food coloring or dye.

Glitter and Glue

This one is a little messy, but adding some glitter to your eggs will add some serious shine to your Easter table.

To make these shimmery eggs, use an art brush to cover completely with glue, dip in glitter and shake of any excess glitter.

Add Details with a Craft Pen

For a simple design that speaks volumes, dress up your eggs with a white craft pen. Create simple polka dots or stencil in designs.

For a natural look, skip the dye altogether and stencil in designs on brown eggs.

Easter Egg Cookies

Use your favorite recipe for sugar cookies and icing to make easter egg shaped cookies.

Coloring Books

Find Easter egg cut outs or coloring pages online for your children to color, then hang them in the windows or anywhere you choose.

These Easter eggs are not edible but they are just as fun to decorate. This is perfect for younger children to show their creativity, and unlike traditional Easter eggs, you can hold on to these eggs for many Easters to come.
